SLUH Comes Up Short Against Rival CBC
The Jr. Bills struggled at the plate through the first five innings, as they were unable to get a hit. Things were different for the Cadets, as they scored two runs in the top of the first. After the shaky start, pitcher Joe Schwarz reestablished his dominance, going the next 4 1/3 innings only giving up two runs. SLUH’s bats came alive in the sixth inning, which started with Ryan McReynolds breaking up the no-hitter with a base hit up the middle. Going into the 7th inning, the Cadets were leading 4-2. In the top of the 7th, CBC scored two unearned runs which extended their lead to 6-2. The Jr. Bills were only able to muster out three more runs in their half of the 7th, leaving them one shy of CBC. After this heartbreaking loss, SLUH will seek revenge when they battle the Cadets again on May 8th.
