2010 JV Water Polo
The 2010 SLUH JV Water Polo team began their year with a strong and convincing victory over an overmatched group from Ladue.
Ladue came out firing while the Jr. Bills appeared sluggish at best, allowing the Rams to take an early 1-0 lead. Freshman phenom and POTG Darrian Castro began the scoring for the Jr. Bills on a nifty halo sweep shot. The Rams and Bills traded ugly, unpolished possessions leading to a SLUH timeout to try to inspire the troops. Eventually, the PoloBills found their rhythm and played to their skill level, ultimately opening up a 5-1 lead at halftime. The lead built to 12-3 by the fourth quarter on the strength of 2 goals apiece from Pieter Derdeyn, Justin Ramacciotti, and Richie Mayer. The fourth quarter was handled by the newest members of the polo team who impressed their coach by pitching a shutout.
