SLUH RuggerBills Gear Up for State
The SLUH Jr. Bills will take their undefeated Missouri (9-1 overall) record into the State Championship Tournament this weekend at DeSmet High School. Already boasting wins over other finalists DeSmet, Parkway United, U. City, and having led Eureka in a rain shortened affair earlier in the season, the SLUH squad is considered one of the favorites to win the title.
However, the format and opposition still present a daunting challenge. To win at State, the team will need to play 3 games in two days against strong opposition. First up will be the Kansas City Jr. Blues (aka Rockhurst), who will be playing in the national tournament later this month.
The other teams rounding out the elite eight are Marquette High and a very strong Park Hill club from the Kansas City area.
