Champions!
The 2012 Jr. Billiken water polo team capped off a great 16-1-1 season by winning the JV Championship tournament at Lindbergh High School over the Parkway South Patriots.
SLUH's team wasn't the most talented JV team ever and didn't have the most firepower. But the team certainly had resiliency and heart as they didn't always play their best but more often than not played well enough to win. In the final game of the year against a very good Patriot squad, the team never quit despite being down 2 goals on two separate occassions, then overcame the disappointment of giving up the game-tying goal with less than 30 sec left in the game to dominate Overtime.
Kudos go to co-captains Matt Marcouiller and Joe Shaughnessy for their strong leadership of the team throughout the season. Though there is much to work on for the team as they move down their own personal water polo road, there is also much to celebrate after a hard season and some great victories.
See you at the banquet on Friday, May 18.
Congratulations to the 2012 JV Champions!
