The Jesuits host three retreats each year for SLUH alumni at the White House Retreat Center in South St. Louis County. Upcoming retreats include:
August 30 (Thursday evening) - September 2 (Sunday afternoon), 2012
November 26 (Monday evening) – November 29 (Thursday afternoon), 2012
January 3 (Thursday evening) – January 6 (Sunday afternoon), 2013
To make a reservation, contact the White House Retreat staff at (314) 533-8903, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Pastoral Office also welcomes alumni who are interested in helping with student retreats to call for details. This can be a very rewarding way to volunteer at SLUH. Contact Mr. Brian Gilmore in the pastoral office at email@example.com. Please note: Prior to attending a retreat with SLUH students, alumni volunteers must complete the "Protecting God's Children" training from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Manresan Society at SLUH
The pursuit of truly understanding our relationship with God and our purpose in His ongoing work of creation is a lifelong journey, and your time at SLUH was an important part of that process. You are invited to continue your understanding of Ignatian Spirituality by, in the words of our great patron saint, "talking with others about God" through the SLUH Alumni Manresan Society.
For nearly 90 years the Manresan Society, which grew out of White House Retreat, has been fostering small group meetings to help members grow in their faith. Each group meets once per month, at a regular time and location. Some groups follow a specific program or guide while others are more spontaneous. All share a tremendous bond of spirituality.
The SLUH Alumni Manresan Society meets monthly at the school for a one-hour meeting in the morning, preceded by the opportunity to attend Mass.
If you think that you would have an interest in participating in a monthly meeting at SLUH, please send your name, e-mail address and other contact details directly to the Manresan Society, firstname.lastname@example.org. Further information is available on their Web site at www.manresan.org.
Alumni Service Corps
The Alum Service Corps (ASC) is a program that offers a graduate of a Jesuit high school the opportunity to give a year of service as a full-time volunteer in a Jesuit high school. The program is a joint venture of the Jesuits of the Missouri Province and of the five participating high schools: Arrupe Jesuit High School (Denver); DeSmet Jesuit High School (St. Louis); Regis Jesuit High School (Denver); Rockhurst High School (Kansas City); and, St. Louis University High School (St. Louis). Volunteers serve in collaboration with the other dedicated men and women who share a commitment to Jesuit education. ASC volunteers are challenged to be "men for others" by working in the ministry of Jesuit secondary education and by living in community with other ASC volunteers.
