Two SLUH Alumni Nominated for Academy Awards

The recently announced nominations for the Academy Awards include two Jr. Billikens who were nominated in very prestigious categories.

Michael Buegg '81 is the Executive Producer for "Little Miss Sunshine," starring Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin and Steve Carell. "Little Miss Sunshine" received a nomination for Best Picture as well as individual nominations in the Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay categories.

Some of Beugg's previous credits include Executive Producer for "Thank You for Smoking," "Beerfest," and "Chumscrubber," with other production credits for "Where The Red Fern Grows," "Welcome to Mooseport," and many others.

Timothy Sexton '78 co-wrote the screenplay for the critically-acclaimed drama "Children of Men," starring Clive Owen and Michael Caine. He was nominated for an Academy Award for writing in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay.

Sexton's previous screenwriting credits include the HBO drama "The Arturo Sundoval Story," for which he won a Writers Guild Award. Sexton also wrote the teleplay for the miniseries, "The Education of Ron Morris: Live from Baghdad," starring Michael Keaton. This work earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries.
