Track Team Captures MCC

The St. Louis University High School track and field team, the reigning state champions, captured the Metro Catholic Conference title at Vianney on April 4th. The team provided stellar performances in both individual and relay events to reclaim the title.

Highlights from the meet, hosted at Vianney, include:

  • First place in the 4x800 meter relay (Nathan Banet ‘07, Dan Viox ‘07, Mike McCafferty ’08 and David Kuciejczyk-Kernan ’09)

  • First place in the 4x400 meter relay (Ryan Brennan ’07, Andrew Bouquet ’08, Matt Miller ’08 and Sam Parr ’08)

  • First place in the 4x200 meter relay (Brennan, Dan Quinlan ’07, Kaelan Mayfield ’07 and John Newcomer ’07)

  • First place in the 4x100 meter relay by Brennan, Mayfield, Quinlan and Drew Blackmon ’08)

  • First place in the individual 400 meter sprint by Parr

  • First place in the individual 200 meter sprint by Brennan

  • First and second place finishes in the triple jump by Jon Harvath ’07 and Bryan Fisher-Nutt ’07, respectively

  • Third place in the long jump by Blackmon

  • Second place in discuss and the shot by Niko Mafuli ’07

The Jr. Billikens will take their momentum into the state playoffs, beginning May 12th with the District Championship.
