25 Students Named National Merit Semi-Finalists

Twenty five students from St. Louis University High School performed well enough on the PSAT test to receive recognition as National Merit Semifinalists. Only the top one-half percent of test takers in Missouri are named as Semifinalists.

To become a semifinalist and eligible for scholarships from the National Merit program and its sponsors, semifinalists must maintain high grades, achieve a score on the SAT which is in line with their PSAT score and complete an application and essay. This year, only scores of 214 or higher out of a possible 240 were eligible for semifinalist stature. SLUH’s highest score was achieved by Micah Manary. He scored a perfect 240, which means he answered every question on the exam correctly.

In addition to the Semifinalists, 29 other seniors were recognized as Commended Students as part of the National Merit program. In all, 54 members of the senior class (more than 20%) received recognition for their test scores.

The following students were recognized as National Merit Semifinalists: Joshua Divine, Matthew Hoffman, William Horner, Daniel Hrdlicka, Jack Kelly, Victor Kessler, Jerry Lakin, Micah Manary, Patrick McDonagh, John Micich, Joseph Milner, Andrew Mueth, Alex Orf, Robert Perkins, Christian Ronzio, Thomas Roth, Timothy Ryan, Benjamin Schmidt, Joel Schmidt, David Shahin, Mike Sullivan, Todd Swift, Thomas Tandler, Murphy Troy and Daniel Viox.
