Isom ’85 New Chief of Police

Major Daniel Isom, a 1985 St. Louis University High School graduate, has been appointed as the new Chief of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. A member of the department since 1988, Isom is the city’s 33rd Chief of Police.

The St. Louis Police Board selected Isom after a six-week process following the departure of Chief Joe Mokwa. He was one of eight finalists (three lieutenants and five majors). Isom, who holds a doctorate in criminal administration and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, will be the third African-American to lead the department.
