The varsity hockey team has their eyes set on the playoffs as they continue to achieve a high level of success throughout the regular season. Most recently, the Jr. Billikens, ranked #2 in the area, defeated top-ranked CBC 2-1 at Queeny Park.
"Our team is very well balanced with three solid lines and players from the fourth that can step in when we are missing players," says coach Charlie Busenhart.
Nick Walters ‘13 and Dan Warnecke ’12 scored the goals for SLUH on January 20th versus CBC. Goalie Thomas Place ’12 had an impressive game, stopping 22 of 24 shots on goal.
Highlights of the season thus far include:
- 14-2-3 record
- Ranked #2 (out of 41 teams)
- Defeated #1 ranked CBC twice this season
- Seniors Dan Warnecke and Trent Lulow are the leading scorers in the competitive Metro Catholic Conference (MCC)
SLUH has two games remaining in the regular season: Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 p.m. versus Vianney at Webster, and Saturday, January 28th at 7:45 p.m. versus Fox at Affton.
The playoffs begin the first weekend in February with the semifinals at the end of the month. The finals are at Scottrade on March 7th.
