RoboBills Place Third in Competition
The SLUH RoboBills earned third place in the Billiken BEST Robotics competition on Saturday, October 13. In addition to winning a trophy at the event, held at Saint Louis University’s Simon Recreation Center, the team earned special awards for Best Strategy and Most Robust.According to Inventors' Club moderator Michelle Perrin, "It was a very heated, fast-paced event. One of the other robots fell off the platform and right on top of our robot in one of the earlier rounds, but thankfully didn’t do any damage."
The RoboBills wore their Chris Zandstra t-shirts, as they named their robot "Zandstra" in honor of their fellow friend and classmate who recently passed away after battling cancer throughout his life.
The competition was sponsored by BEST Robotics, Inc. a non-profit, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology through participation in a sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competition.
