Exerpts from the STUCO Constitution...
Preamble
We, the Students of St. Louis University High School, in order to establish a representative student government; to provide an open forum for dialogue and a voice for student opinions concerning the affairs of the School; to involve students in a productive partnership of shared governance with the faculty, staff, and administration of the School; to promote camaraderie and unity for the student community; to uphold the ideals and values of the Jesuit Catholic tradition, especially the ideal of "Men for Others;" do hereby ordain and establish this Constitution for the service of the student body and ad majorem dei gloriam.
Purpose
The Student Council of St. Louis University High School is composed of representatives of all grade levels. Its purposes are to:
Serve as a unifying force in support of all school events
Foster in the students a sense of the ideals of SLUH and to inspire the highest type of school spirit
Provide a means of creating a better fellowship and understanding between faculty, administration, and students; and among students themselves
Provide a greater opportunity for self-government and experience democratic practices
Foster a growth of spirituality within the student body
Represent the student voice on issues of concern
Set an example for the community by representing good moral and responsible behavior.
