Sam Pottinger '18 was nominated for the inaugural St. Louis High School Musical Theater Awards (SLHSMTA) for Best Actor for his role in Cor Jesu's production of The Curtains. He was recognized with this honor—and also performed—at the SLHSMTA awards ceremony May 28 at the Fabulous Fox.

Pottinger played the lead role of Lt. Frank Cioffi in the murder mystery The Curtains. This summer he will be performing in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Muny.

In addition to his interest and talent in acting, Pottinger is an avid vocalist, dancer and musician (saxophone). He recently earned spots on the All-State Choir and All-State Solo and Ensemble, for which he was awarded four exemplary ratings of 1.

The SLHSMTA, sponsored by The Muny, The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation and Fox Associates, celebrates outstanding achievement in high school musical theater. A panel of theater professionals evaluates participating schools. The year-long judging process culminates in an awards ceremony modeled on the Tony awards. Also known as The Jimmy Awards, named for Broadway impresario James M. Nederlander, the program has been the catalyst for more than $1 million in educational scholarships.
