Dr. Kevin Foy, a Social Studies teacher at SLUH with a 21-year career in Jesuit education, will become the new Assistant Principal for Academics, beginning July 1. He assumes this new position following the retirement of Tom Becvar, who leaves a 48-year legacy at SLUH.
According to Fr. Ian Gibbons, SJ, Principal, “We are very grateful for Tom Becvar’s enduring service to SLUH and look forward to Dr. Foy helping us to advance the academic formation of our young men.”
A graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Dr. Foy holds a BA in Theology from Saint Louis University, an MBA from Webster University, and an EdD in Education from Saint Louis University. His career in Jesuit education has taken him from DeSmet Jesuit to SLUH. With a deep background in curriculum and leadership development, he has served as an adjunct faculty member with the Jesuit Schools Network, co-directing the Leadership Seminars for SLUH’s national network of schools.
Over the years, Dr. Foy has taught theology and AP Economics, served as department chair, led SLUH’s curriculum review process, directed Kairos retreats, and chaired the school’s Strategic Summit executive team. He has had a strong role in co-curriculars, including coaching lacrosse and moderating The Ignatian Business Leaders and Circus Club.
