Alum Service Corps

The Alum Service Corps (ASC) offers graduates of SLUH and other Jesuit schools an opportunity to give back in gratitude for their Jesuit education by committing a year of service as faculty members in Jesuit middle or high schools. SLUH graduates who have completed (or will soon be completing) their undergraduate degree are encouraged to apply.

SLUH Alumni in ASC

"I am a St. Louis University High alumnus with a BA in psychology from the University of Mississippi. I am incredibly excited to work at Regis Jesuit High School (Denver, CO), to give back to an education system that has done so much for me. My hope is that I can inspire the young men at Regis Jesuit to explore their interests and discover themselves the same way St. Louis University High School did for me."

Peter Lucier '08
"Since I left St. Louis University High School, I've always hoped for the opportunity to return and give back. The English department was an incredibly formative place for me as a SLUH student -- challenging me to make meaning of the world through stories and narrative -- and I couldn't be more excited to come back, teach some of those same stories, and help the current generation of students make their own meaning." Pete is a graduate of Montana State University and is serving at St. Louis University High School (St. Louis, MO).

"I am thrilled to return to my alma mater as a mentor and educator with ASC this year. My own teachers at SLUH and Saint Louis University instilled in me a passion for Jesuit values and a commitment to lifelong learning. I hope to be a source of inspiration for my students, like my Jesuit educators were for me."

Ethan Valencia '14
Serving at DeSmet Jesuit High School (St. Louis, MO) is my chance to give back to the Jesuit education community that made me into somebody I am proud to be; and I have the fortune to do it in the most engaging way possible. My hope is that the school will enjoy my presence as much as I enjoyed the benefactors and role models who made my own high school experience so meaningful and edifying. I am passionate and thrilled and consider myself lucky for this opportunity. Ethan is a graduate of Saint Louis University.

"I am incredibly honored to be welcomed into the Rockhurst High School (Kansas City, MO) and ASC communities and to serve alongside such passionate individuals. My Jesuit education has been a defining pillar of my life and I am thrilled to continue to grow in the Jesuit tradition. I am ready for the challenges of serving as a teacher and a mentor in the upcoming year and look forward to the reward and growth it will bring as I build relationships, grow in thoughtfulness, and enrich the lives and learning of the young people I will work with." Matthew is a graduate of Creighton University (Omaha, NE).
