The Alumni Board gathered virtually in General Session on Tuesday, September 8. Topics included a school update (Sean Agniel '96), President's remarks on the 2020-21 academic year (Alan Carruthers), and Project Team updates from the Officers. Please note the following volunteer opportunities below, plus the video from the meeting.
Join fellow SLUH alumni at Claver House near St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in the Ville neighborhood. We are hoping to start the day with Mass at Claver House at 8 a.m. and will conclude the service work around 11:30 a.m. Volunteers are encouraged to bring yard/lawn equipment to help with the clean up. For more information, please contact Hap Burke at email@example.com
We need your help with outreach for our Days of Giving and St. Louis U. High Day Celebration! As indicated in the Board meeting, a gathering in the Commons seems unlikely given occupancy restrictions. Sign-up below and let us know you're willing to help with outreach to ensure "SLUH Meets the Need" for our families this year.
The annual end-of-the-school-year Appreciation Dinner was held on May 12, as a virtual "happy hour" rather than a dinner.
It was the final meeting hosted by Mark Berns '93. Our thanks to Mark for his work as an officer over the past four years. Mark passed the gavel to Dick Mehan, Jr. '70 who will now serve his term as President of the Alumni Board. Mark announced that Brian Walsh '89 will be replacing him as the newest officer of the Alumni Board.
To close out the meeting, Dick Mehan reviewed the upcoming calendar of alumni events, which is listed below:
Tuesday, August 25
St. Ignatius Cup
Golf Tournament in which SLUH alumni compete against DeSmet alumni
Our Alumni Board officer Tom Erman ‘71 heads up this Ryder-Cup-Style competition to be held at Sunset Country Club.
Friday, October 9 50th Anniversary Celebration of Football Championship
At the home football game versus Vianney, SLUH will honor the state championship team of 1970...SLUH's one and only state football title. This season marks the 50th anniversary of this championship, and the team will be recognized in ceremonies at the home game on this night.
Thursday, November 12
St. Louis U. High Day Phonathon
For the Alumni Board, this is the most important night of the year.
