For many years, Class 4 teams faced the Sectional Championship as the qualifying step between District and State. Beginning with the 2020 season, Sectionals were eliminated. At Sectionals, two Districts merged together the top four teams and 30 individuals qualified for the State Meet. Typically, there were 8 teams and about 75 runners in each Sectional. The All-Sectional First Team honors those runners who finished in places 1-7, and the All-Sectional Second Team honored places 8-14.
