Thanks to Parkway West for putting on another great meet at Living Word UMC and for keeping the nasty weather away. Team-wise, it was a day for us that again showcased some great depth. As far as team awards go, we took home three first place plaques and one runner-up.

Varsity: We were second of twenty schools represented, only behind Rock Bridge. For the second week in a row, Sean Kellogg finished as our team's top racer, running 16:37 for 8th place. Also medalling were Grant Brawley (14th), Baker Pashea (15th), Joe LaBarge (16th), and Justin Glass (25th).

Sophomores: Putting our five scorers in the top seven overall, the sophomores had a remarkable day. Charlie Murray won his second race of the year, running 17:51 for a win. Mason Scargall and Anthony Zangara were close behind, running 18:07 and 18:09 for second and third. Charlie Gray ran the race of his young life for 5th, setting a new PR of 18:23. Gabe Sullivan finished 7th in 18:55, putting all five of our scorers under 19 minutes. Also medalling were Noah Evers (11th), Landon Beiseman (13th), and Michael Safar (25th).

Sophomore PRs at Parkway West:

  • August Russell, 0:35
  • Charlie Gray, 0:19
  • Noah Evers, 0:04
  • Michael Safar, 0:04
  • Paul Caso, season-best time by 0:21

Freshmen: This group continued their winning ways, posting 39 points and a nine-point winning margin over the freshmen from Rock Bridge. Even after last week's fast racing at Arnold Park, this group showed signs of more progression, posting 10 new PRs. The result demonstrated the importance of the depth of your team in the sport of cross country. Through each team's first three finishers, Rock Bridge had the advantage on us. However, by us having six finishers before their fourth, and seven before their fifth, we were able to secure the victory. Gus Talleur was our top finisher in third, with medals also going to George Donahue (7th), Patrick Jones (10th), Logan Phillips (11th), Mason Lauber (13th), Gavin Smith (15th), Ethan Bognar (18th), and Alex Bendaña (25th)

Freshman PRs at Parkway West:

  • Owen Roth, 1:32
  • George Donahue, 0:35
  • Ian Kuehner, 0:26
  • Alex Bendaña, 0:20
  • Rowan Lemp, 0:19
  • Cooper Capdeboscq, 0:18
  • Patrick Jones, 0:16
  • Gavin Smith, 0:06
  • Otto Reitenbach, 0:05
  • Ethan Bognar, 0:04

Junior Varsity: Even with injuries and sickness sidelining a number of runners, our depth shined brightly in the junior & senior JV race. We put all seven scoring runners in the top 9 overall, winning with a very low score of 18 points. Tim Greiner won the JV race in a time of 17:48, and Will Riggan was close behind in second place, also going under 18 minutes by running 17:54. Tad Gray had a great race to PR and equal his brother's 5th place finish in an earlier race. It was also great to see Nathan Abner back racing. Nathan was in his first race back after battling through injury, a battle of cross-training and persistence that is not easy for any runner.

Medals were earned by Tim Greiner (1st), Will Riggan (2nd), Francis Alford (3rd), Tad Gray (5th), Brendan Jones (7th), Tyler Barks (8th), Flynn O'Connell (9th), Alex Mittendorf (16th), and Gavin Lawhorn (23rd).

JV PRs at Parkway West:

  • Tad Gray, 0:18

Success doesn't depend on external recognition, but we are proud that our hard work and race approaches generated for us three team championships and a runner-up finish.
