We were very grateful to get invited back to the Palatine Invitational and have the chance to mix it up with some unfamiliar teams. In a loaded field that included 23 ranked Illinois teams (per http://ilxctf.com), our 9th place varsity finish was our fifth best ever at this meet that we've been coming to since 2010. Our top finishers in the race were Sean Kellogg (who ran a PR) and Grant Brawley (who ran a big SB). Other PRs came from Joe LaBarge and Wyatt Seal. Looking "under the hood," though there were some things to clean up, we really like our progression of how things are coming together for varsity in our quest to run our best races in November.

In the JV race, our seven ran the toughest, best race we've ever seen from a JV group at Palatine. In a race whose depth of quality likens us to compare it to a very good local varsity race, our second seven's 74 team points trailed only York's 62. This was our highest finish in the JV race we've ever had at Palatine. We had three medalists (Tim Greiner 5th, Mason Scargall 9th, Charlie Murray 15th), a 17:16 average on the 5k conversion for our scoring five, 5 PRs & 1 SB, and all seven finished in the top 39 of a 400+ runner race. The coaches already knew we have one of the deepest teams we've ever had, and this result provided more evidence to support that claim.
