March 22 at SLUH Track

The track team opened the season by welcoming CBC, DeSmet Jesuit, and Rockwood Summit to start of the season. Event winners included Matthew Moore (both hurdle races), Preston Eash (1600), Andrew Freeman (800), Charlie Murray (3200), and Keegan Dow (Javelin). March 25 at Festus High School (501 Westwind Dr, Festus, MO 63028)

It was cold and windy, but the sun came out late as SLUH had victories in the 200 (Ryan Wingo), 400 (Joseph Harris), 110 Hurdles (Jacobi Oliphant), 300 Hurdles (Jacobi Oliphant),  and the 4x400 relay (Jacobi Oliphant, Steffan Mayer, Carter Lowe, and Ryan Wingo).

It is worth noting that discus was cancelled and we did not participate in the javelin and the 100 meter dash as the conditions were not optimal.

April 1 at Marquette High School (2351 Clarkson Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017)

While only competing in the distance and throwing events, we still finished 5^th of 9 teams at the Marquette Invitational. That includes finishing ahead of MCC conference competitors Chaminade and CBC. The conditions were not optimal for fast races, but it was good to get out there and compete. Some highlights include a PR for Dom Novotny in the discus and in his first competition in the javelin, Cam Schlueter threw over 31 meters! Other highlights include a varsity and JV sweep in the 3200. The varsity was led by sophomores George Donahue and Alex Bendana and the JV took the top 4 spots with Gus Talleur, Noah Evers, Jake Fitzpatrick, and Patrick Jones.

April 6 at Eureka High School (4525 MO-109, Eureka, MO 63025)

While not competing with a full squad, the varsity and JV teams both finished 3rd at the Eureka Wildcat Invitational. Some noteworthy performances include that every single thrower in both varsity and JV threw a new personal best at Eureka. Junior Ryan Wingo ran the fastest 100 meter time so far this season in the state of Missouri with a 10.67. Junior Jacobi Oliphant had two individual victories in the 110 hurdles and 200 meters, both of which were PRs. The 4x200 of Joseph Harris, Jacobi Oliphant, Matthew Moore, and Ryan Wingo ran 1:28.20, which is also a state leader.

April 8 at Timberland High School (559 East Hwy N, Wentzville, MO 63385)

SLUH took 2nd overall as a team at the Timberland Wolfpack Invitational. Event winners include Ryan Wingo (100 and 400), Joe Harris (200), Tim Greiner (3200), and Jacobi Oliphant (110 hurdles). In total, we scored 82 points on the day.

April 12 at SLUH Track

SLUH welcomed Rockwood Summit, DeSmet Jesuit, CBC, and Vianney to our track for our 2nd JV/C meet of the season. We had victories in the 4x800 (Franks, P. Jones, G. Smith, and Gray),  Alex Bendana (1600), Garret Franks (400), Lucas Rammacher (800), and Gavin Smith (3200).

April 14-15 at Rock Chalk Park (6100 Rock Chalk Dr, Lawrence, KS 66049)

It was a crazy and windy 2 days in Lawrence, KS for the 100^th anniversary of the Kansas Relays. We were able to place in the 110 hurdles with Jacobi Oliphant finishing in 5^th place and the 4x200 of Joseph Harris, Jacobi Oliphant, Matthew Moore, and Ryan Wingo finished 2^nd. Ryan Wingo qualified 3^rd into the finals of the open 100, but due to weather conditions, he did not race the final. We also did not race the 4x400 as the meet was canceled due to weather before the event could be competed. The 4x100 of Joseph Harris, Jacobi Oliphant, Kam Bailey, and Ryan Wingo were champions. This was the first Kansas Relays champion for SLUH since the 4x1600 in 2010.

April 15 at Chaminade (425 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63131)

Saturday was the All Catholic Invitational at Chaminade. The team finished 3^rd overall. We had top 4 finishes in the 800 (Andrew Freeman), 1600 (George Donahue), 3200 (Alex Bendana), High Jump (Dylan Humphrey), Pole Vault (Ben Kean), Discus (Tristan Ivory), Javelin (Cameron Schlueter), and the 4x800 Relay (Murray, Talleur, Donahue, Freeman).

April 18 at Eureka High School (4525 MO-109, Eureka, MO 63025)

The team finished 6th out of 15 teams in the Eureka JV meet. Medalists include 4x800 relay (Donahue, Bendana, Scargall, and Rammacher), Alex Bendana in the 1600, George Donahue and Noah Evers in the 3200, and Cameron Schlueter in the Javelin.

The freshman team finished 4th at the Kirkwood C Invitational. Medalists include Colin Minor (Triple Jump), Jaxon Bennett (Triple Jump, 110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles), Moshe Ogunrinde (Discus), Jake Fitpatrick (1600), Hendrix Fyvie (1600), Jesse Brower-Toland (800), Preston Eash (3200), Nick Ahlheim (3200), Aidan Smith (3200), the 4x100 meter relay (Carson, Lezieanya, Murphy, Shaw), the 4x200 meter relay (Carson, Lezieanya, Murphy, Shaw), and the 4x800 (Fyvie, Ahlheim, Eash, Fitzpatrick).

April 22 at Ladue High School (1201 South, Warson Rd, St. Louis, MO 63124)

SLUH won it's first major invitational of the season by defeating 27 teams at the Ladue Brusca/Strohbach Invitational. Medalists include Ben Kean (pole vault), Jacobi Oliphant (110 hurdles and 300 hurdles), Joe Harris (100 and 200),  Ryan Wingo (200 and 400), the 4x400 relay (Harris, Oliphant, Lowe, Wingo), and the 4x800 relay (Meara, Freeman, Mayer, Lowe).

Our V2 group was champions of the Jim Farrell Invitational, scoring 147 points to distance ourselves from CBC, Confluence, Vianney, DeSmet, and Miller Career. Medalists include Kam Bailey (100 meters), Steffan Mayer (400), Mason Scargall (800), Gus Talleur (3200), Alex Bendana (3200), Matthew Moore (110 hurdles), August Russell (Pole Vault), Keegan Dow (Pole Vault), Alex Fowler (Shot Put), Dom Novotny (Shot Put and Discus), Cam Schlueter (Javelin), 4x100 relay (Bailey, Baur, Bennett, Chaffee), 4x200 relay (Bailey, Baur, Jordan, Chaffee), 4x400 relay (Moore, Franks, Bognar, Mayer), and 4x800 relay (Scargall, Evers, Bognar, Rammacher).

SLUH had tremendous success at the DeSmet JV/C Invitational. Top 3 finishes were by DJ Jordan (200), Nicholas Purschke (800), Patrick Jones (1600), Gavin Smith (3200), Cameron Schlueter (300 hurdles), Lucas Strohmeyer (300 hurdles), Colin Minor (High Jump and Triple Jump), Charlie Casey (Pole Vault), August Russell (Pole Vault), Keegan Dow (Pole Vault), 4x100 (2 relays!), 4x200 (2 relays!), 4x400, and 4x800 (2 relays!)

April 29 at Kirkwood High School (801 W Essex Ave, Kirkwood, MO 63122)

SLUH extended its varsity team victory streak to three in a close one at the Dale Collier Invitational.  We were only 1.5 points clear of Capitol City High School from Jefferson City. Medalists (top 6) include Cam Schlueter (Javelin), Jacobi Oliphant (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 200), Ryan Wingo (100), Joseph Harris (100, 400), Carter Lowe (1600), Anthony Zangara (3200), 4x400 Relay (Wingo, Lowe, Meara, Mayer), and 4x800 Relay (Meara, Donahue, Zangara, Murray).

May 1 at Vianney High School (1311 S Kirkwood Rd, St. Louis, MO 63122)

SLUH competed in the John Mohr C Invitational at Vianney to get our freshman team some experience against other freshmen from Kirkwood, Chaminade, Northwest, and Vianney. Medalists (top 3) include: Tristan Kujawa (3200), Preston Eash (3200), Nick Ahlheim (3200),  Colin Minor (long jump, triple jump, high jump), 4x400 Relay (Brower-Toland, Holthaus, Seitz, Strohschein), and 4x800 Relay (Fitzpatrick, Ahlheim, Eash, Fyvie).

May 9 at SLUH Track

SLUH welcomed Marquette, DeSmet, CBC, and Vianney for our final JV/C meet of the season. Highlight performances include Jaxon Bennett with 2 PRs in the hurdles, the top 12 finishers overall in the 1600 meter run including a photo finish between Alex Bendana and Mason Scargall, Michael Baur breaking 24 seconds in the 200, Noah Evers with a win in the 3200, and many others. While this was the end of the season for our JV and C teams, they went out on a high note!

May 13 at SLUH Track.

The team finished 2nd overall in the Class 5 District 1 meet, hosted by SLUH. This was the first time that SLUH has ever hosted a postseason track meet. Thank you to all of the athletes, parents, and faculty members that helped host this meet. We qualified athletes in 12 of the 19 events to compete at Sectionals in Poplar Bluff.

May 20 at Poplar Bluff High School

Congratulations to the following athletes who qualified to the state championships. Ryan Wingo (100, 200), Jacobi Oliphant (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Carter Lowe (800), Cameron Schlueter (Javelin), Alex Fowler (Shot Put), 4x100 Relay (Harris, Bailey, Chaffee, Oliphant), and the 4x400 Relay (Harris, Mayer, Moore, Oliphant).

Congratulations to Cameron Schlueter who broke the school record in the Javelin with a distance of 49.08 meters, more than 3 meters over the old school record!

May 26-27 at Jefferson City High School (609 Union St, Jefferson City, MO 65101)

SLUH took 12th place overall out of 77 teams in class 5, scoring 20 points. We were all-state in 4 events. Jacobi Oliphant was 7th in the 110 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles. The 4x100 team of Harris, Wingo, Bailey, and Oliphant finished 2nd and the 4x400 of Harris, Mayer, Moore, and Oliphant finished 2nd.

Two school records were achieved during the meet. In the prelims, the 4x100 ran 41.92 for a new school record that was set only a year ago. The 4x400 relay in the finals ran 3:18.57 to break a record from 2006.
