Campus Ministry takes part in two major charitable drives in the life of the SLUH Community: the Food Drive and the Christmas Drive. Learn more about each below!
The annual SLUH Food Drive, operated out of Student Council, is one of the biggest community support efforts we do throughout the year. All donations go to our Freshman Service Program, which in turn helps feed people struggling with homelessness right here in our city.
It’s emblematic that this drive is one of the first big activities of the school year, showing our commitment to being “Men for and with Others.” Parents, we ask that you discuss with your sons the importance of supporting charitable causes such as our Food Drive. We hope to get all members of the school community involved. In order to boost the energy for the drive, we will have a competition among grade levels and advisories. Students will have to make sure they stick to their assigned lists.
We need donations of food items (specifically assigned), as well as cash. Please view the food item donations lists for your son’s advisoryclick here. Please know that we truly do appreciate your generosity and hope that you are able to bring your son into the importance of serving others. For more information about the Food Drive click here.
In the spirit of Advent, the SLUH community is collecting money to support two groups of people: Marygrove, a division of Catholic Charities of St. Louis, and SLUH scholars in need of additional support. Our community goal is $40,000.
The collection will take place from Monday, November 27 thru Friday, December 8 on the SLUH website. Please click here to donate!
Marygrove is one of the nine family of ministries of Catholic Charities of St. Louis. It has a rich history of more than 170 years caring for children, teens and young adults—offering a compassionate, safe and healing environment. The youth who come to Marygrove have endured multiple failed placements at other organizations, cycled through foster homes, or even survived failed adoptions. Many come from abusive, violent, and severely disruptive family situations; and, in a few instances, are discharged from psychiatric hospitals directly to Marygrove.
Donations will directly support the kids at Marygrove including gifts for each child as well as providing safe, homes, healthy meals, and therapeutic support for the children. The parents/guardians of SLUH scholars in need will receive gift cards to purchase gifts and groceries for their family.
