We appreciate the diverse styles, gifts, insights and humanity of each student. Our wide range of courses and co-curricular activities allows our budding artists to pursue their interests, develop their creative talent and maximize their potential.
Whether a student is a beginner or an advanced musician, we offer an array of courses and experiences for all interests and ability levels, from Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band, to Jazz Band and Choir. Our musicians consistently earn local, regional and national recognition, and our ensembles have traveled to perform in China, Boston, New York and Rome, where they played for Pope Francis.
The performing arts at SLUH supports a long legacy of production excellence inspired by the late Joseph Schulte '54, our theater namesake. We focus on the essential elements of process in supporting our craft, while emphasizing quality in everything our young men produce. Students learn the essence of ensemble and how to respect every aspect of theater and the teamwork required to maximize its potential.
Our Studio Art Program allows students to thrive in a variety of media, with courses in Ceramics, Painting in Acrylics, Printmaking and 3D Design, among others. Through the exploration of various techniques, students begin to understand how to express their ideas visually. They learn how to see the world around them through a new lens, and they discover how to discuss, interpret and analyze works of art.
