William George Prize in Poetry

2025 Results

This year eighty-two poems submitted by thirty-six students were judged anonymously by Travis Mossotti, the program coordinator for Poetry in the Woods and the author of five poetry collections including, most recently, Apocryphal Genesis, winner of the 2025 North American Poetry Book Award.

First prize: “Visits from Cardinals” by Paul Thibodeau

Second prize: “the trials and tribulations of trying to pee when your queer” by Cooper Capdeboscq

Honorable Mention: “It’s Really Not That Deep” by Franklin Buckeridge

Honorable Mention: “Psychoanalytic” by Jaden Yarbrough

Honorable Mention: “The Potato Eaters” by Otto Reitenbach

Honorable Mention: “Ferguson” by Gavin Simon
