At SLUH, everything we do is For the Greater Glory of God. Through a comprehensive program of liturgy, prayer, retreats and service, we form Men for Others while fostering the love of God, others and self.
Liturgy
Students take an active role in liturgies as eucharistic ministers, servers, lectors and musicians. We celebrate the Eucharist in a variety of settings throughout the school year, including daily Masses, all-school Masses, quarterly class Masses and Sunday family Masses.
Prayer
In addition to starting and ending each day with prayer, we dedicate two minutes of reflective silence daily to the Examen of Consciousness. This simple exercise, inspired by St. Ignatius of Loyola, is a daily method of self-examination intended to help practitioners better serve the Lord.
Retreats
To know that St. Ignatius is the patron saint of retreats is to know about a centrality to any Jesuit vocation or ministry.
At SLUH, retreats provide a break from academic demands while giving students the opportunity to grow in their faith and spiritual awareness.
Service & Justice
We believe that service is just not the responsibility of a few — it is the vocation of all Christians.
Our expansive service program helps students to further their development as Men for Others in our local community and beyond through global partnerships with Jesuit schools and charitable organizations.
