Our School Counselors work individually with students to guide them through the Jesuit ideals of self-understanding, discovering gifts through bravery and innovation, and engaging with others through a positive attitude and goal-centered action.

In addition to helping to address concerns or challenges in the personal, social or academic lives of students, counselors help students find opportunities both inside and outside of school to develop their interests and talents, and to reach their personal goals.

SLUH college counselors work individually with students and their families through the college admission process.

Guided by Jesuit ideals throughout the college search and selection steps, we encourage each student to:

• Understand his strengths, weaknesses, values and worldview, and communicate his gifts through his college essay and resume.
• Innovate and adapt to a changing world by choosing a college that provides opportunities and agility in a shifting employment landscape.
• Engage others through his college search and interviews with a positive attitude.

College counseling is available all four years.

We are committed to supporting students and ensuring they have full and equal access to a demanding educational environment.

The Learning Center offers programs and support for students with learning differences and assists faculty in their efforts to provide reasonable accommodations and equal access to learning. It embodies Jesuit pedagogy and cura personalis, providing individual care and attention for each student by:

• Coordinating academic accommodations of extended-time testing and preferential seating
• Instructing students in study skills and executive skill development, including time management, organization and self-advocacy
• Working individually with students as needed
• Providing quiet study time for students in the Learning Center
• Consulting and communicating with parents
