Dooley Week

Dooley Week, formerly called Mission Week, raises money to support St. Francis Community Services, a ministry of the St. Louis Archdiocesan Catholic Charities which “empowers multicultural individuals and families by providing educational opportunities, holistic case management and legal aid to create a lasting impact on their lives and on our communities.”

A Festive Week

Student Council works hard to plan great events each day in support those in our community so much in need. Last year, the SLUH community donated over $25,000 to support St. Francis Center – we want to aim for that very high bar this year.

A Man for Others

The name “Dooley Week” honors St. Roch, St. Louis U. High, and SLU Medical School alumnus and SLUH Backer Award winner Tom Dooley ‘44, who practiced medicine in Southeast Asia, caring for the people and especially the children of Laos and Vietnam.

An author and humanitarian, he lived as a Man for Others decades before the term was coined. This year, we are returning to that name for the week, which was first initiated by the Class of 2016, in honor of this man who gave and did not count the cost.
