Dear Classmate:
You may remember that five years ago we established a Class of 1967 Scholarship Fund to cover the expenses of young men – teenage boys like we all were – to attend SLUH and eventually become proud alumni. We currently have $244,400 in cash in the Fund and $61,900 in pledges.
However, in order for our Scholarship Fund to be fully endowed – to have enough principal to generate income sufficient to cover the annual cost of one year of tuition and expenses for one young man – our Scholarship Fund needs a total of $325,000.
As a result, and as of December 8, we still need $18,600 in cash or pledges.
We are aware that each of us has a different amount of disposable income, which we can contribute to SLUH. To help secure the remaining $18,600 for our Scholarship Fund, we think it could be helpful if each of us would first pledge what we think we can afford to donate by the time of our 55th Reunion in 2022. You can contact Steve Kappel (srkmd@charter.net) if you need more detail concerning making a pledge.
If you decide to donate to SLUH and our Class of 1967 Scholarship Fund, there are several ways you can make your contribution:
By Check: Make your check payable to St. Louis U. High School, Attn. Business Office, 4970 Oakland Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110. Write “Class of 1967 Scholarship” on the memo line.
Online: Use the online form below.
You can make a future Jr. Bill very grateful if you can help our Class of 1967 give him the opportunity to have the great SLUH education that we all had many years ago. Just imagine in future years some young man will receive an acceptance letter and will feel excited, proud and grateful because it will also say the “Class of ‘67” has provided him with a scholarship.
We hope that you will join us for the 55th Reunion of our Class in the fall of 2022.
Whatever you do, please know that you are a valued member of our Class of 1967. Many of our Classmates remember you, care about you, and want to be in contact with you again. We would really love to see you at our 55th Reunion next year.
Looking forward to seeing you in the fall,
Joe Fritsch, Paul Behrmann, Jim Hitch, Dave Hilliard, Steve Kappel, Mike Soehngen
