English teacher Adam Cruz ’10 has been selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction for outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in education. This student-nominated honor recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders and citizens.
“As an educator, coach and club moderator, Adam embodies cura personalis, a hallmark of Jesuit education that means care for the entire person," says SLUH Principal Ian Gibbons, SJ. "Adam connects with our students in a personalized way that is supportive and lifts them to higher levels of growth and achievement.”
In addition to his work as a teacher, Cruz is an Assistant Football Coach, Assistant Director of Admissions and club moderator for the Association for Cultural Enrichment at SLUH (ACES).
“What inspires me most is following in the footsteps of some of the truly fantastic teachers I had at SLUH,” he says.
The Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction is awarded by The National Society of High School Scholars, which advances the goals and aspirations of high-achieving students.
