- STEAM
SLUH hosted STEM Night on Monday, October 4 in the Si Commons to celebrate the power and importance of adding new knowledge to the common collective. Eight Jr. Bills actively engaged in research shared their remarkable projects and experiences.
STEM at SLUH is not a buzzword. Our program forms inquiry-based learners and intellectual pursuers of solutions in today’s complex world. Students have freedom to pursue their passions while imagining, designing, creating and promoting their work. Creativity and innovation involve the convergence of many different fields, calling for reflection and mindfulness, both of which are hallmarks of Jesuit education.
SLUH STEM Night presented reflections from faculty and students who have participated in various STEM initiatives inside and outside of the SLUH community, including:
- Students and Teachers as Research Scientists (STARS) Program, a unique partnership among UMSL, Washington University-St. Louis and Saint Louis University that pulls local and regional rising seniors into college-level research with faculty members;
- Shadow experience with Rural Parish Clinic’s mobile unit; and
- Global initiative for medicines in Uganda.
