Our Story

The oldest school west of the Mississippi River, SLUH began in 1818 as a Latin school for boys in a one-story home.

Since then, it has experienced four name and five location changes. It has endured wars, natural disasters, financial market crashes and health crises. Yet it has always remained steadfast in its commitment to forming Men for Others with a pioneering spirit, an unwavering faith, and a willingness to take risks and adapt.

A History Marked by Inspiration & Adaptation
