Sophomore Class

Sophomores driving a vehicle to school must display an official SLUH parking tag. Tags are $25 each and must be displayed at all times when parking on campus. Registration forms are available in the Office of Wellness and Discipline.

The Sophomore Retreat takes place each spring and is a key milestone in the SLUH formation journey. Over two days on campus, students reflect on their experiences, deepen their faith, and grow in community. Families will receive dates, times and packing information well in advance.

In the weeks following the Sophomore Retreat, each student and his parents meet on campus with a faculty member for a 45-60 minute conversation. Rooted in the SLUH Graduate at Graduation vision, these conversations build on retreat reflections and help guide students in evaluating their personal, academic, and spiritual growth. At the conclusion, students receive invitations to set meaningful goals for the years ahead.

Families will be sent information for signing up in April. Questions may be directed to the Sophomore Class Moderator, Mr. Joe Stickley, at jstickley@sluh.org.

Sophomores are required to complete 10 hours of service. Guided by Campus Ministry, students are invited to step outside themselves, encounter others, and begin living out SLUH’s call to faith in action. Details will be provided in sophomore theology courses.

Sophomores are encouraged to share their gifts and passions by joining one or more of the many SLUH clubs and activities. At the Activities Fair, students meet leaders, learn about opportunities and sign up for groups that interest them.

Eligible sophomore may apply for NHS. Sophomore year is a time to continue growing in scholarship, leadership, character and service — the four pillars of NHS. Focusing on these now lays a strong foundation for future applications.
