Student Resources

SLUH uses Food Service Consultants for its dining options. A Dining Debit account must be set up for each student through FSC’s online portal Meal Magic. Everyone will need to register for an account and add their student to their profile. Any previous balances are transferred from previous years.

Students are required to bring their SLUH-issued electronic device to class with them every day. Devices should be fully charged and labeled with the student’s name and student ID.

Students are not allowed to have cell phones on their person during the day.  

Students and parents/guardians must adhere to the school’s technology code of conduct and cell phone policy.

Families are charged an Educational Resources Fee to cover both their textbook and technology needs. Under this comprehensive fee, students will receive all required reading materials, digital subscriptions, and equipment needed for every course, as well as their iPad and calculator. Students will pick up their books before the start of the Fall semester.

Some teachers may request certain supplies, like a binder or a notebook. In other courses, students may choose their own supplies to organize themselves.  

Below is a list of items that will be helpful for most students.

• 1”-2” binders in a variety of colors OR notebooks and folders in a variety of colors
• Loose leaf paper
• Graph paper for science and math
• Pens and pencils (will need to be replenished throughout the year)
• Highlighters
• Index cards

Student planners are provided. Students are expected to have their student planners with them for each class during the school year to record daily assignments and future plans.

Canvas is the SLUH learning management software. All coursework goes through Canvas.  Parents will receive access to Canvas shortly after the start of the school year.  Parents can check grades on Canvas if needed.

Students register for courses in February and the academic year schedules are distributed to students in July. Contact Registrar Mrs. Tricia Schulter at tschuler@sluh.org with any questions regarding coursework.

Powerschool is the SLUH system for course registration. Parents will receive PowerSchool access as a part of the incoming Freshman Academic Orientation in March.

SLUH has a rotating 7 period schedule. Embedded in the daily schedule is Studium, Activity Period and Advisory (link to Advisory explanation).  

Studium is a 50-minute period on Tuesdays and Thursdays for students to work with teachers.  Activity Period is a 50-minute period on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for students to participate in co-curriculars and intramurals.

Late starts are typically scheduled every other Thursday. Doors open at 6 a.m. Classes start at 9:30 a.m.

Advisory is a formational program for students and teachers to build community. Students are assigned an Advisory freshman year and are with that group throughout their tenure at SLUH.  

Advisory occurs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some examples of activities that occur in Advisory are team building, intramurals, college counseling, class Mass, prayer services, mental health and wellness programming and DEI programming. 

If your son will not be at school, or needs to leave early, please send a note to attendance@sluh.org. Students should contact their teachers and meet with them upon their return.

The Jr. Bill Store is open when classes are in session, typically from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is located inside the main entry doors by the St. Ignatius of Loyola statue. The online store is always open at shop.sluh.org. Purchases can be made online and picked up in the store.

The Back to School Mixer (BTSM) is held on the SLUH Campus in August. The Back to School mixer is open to SLUH boys and any high school aged girls. Students must register and purchase tickets beforehand. Casual attire is recommended.

New IDs can be purchased for $5 in the Office for Student Discipline and Wellness (aka: Dr. Kesterson’s Office).

The Office for Student Discipline and Wellness can help with forgotten locker combinations, purchasing locks, etc.
