This year, 25 St. Louis U. High students and four adult chaperones joined together with 150,000 other pro-life advocates to voice their support for the rights of the unborn.

Experiencing the first few weeks of 2022 with skyrocketing case numbers and quarantines had SLUH rethinking what the term “fully vaccinated” meant, and whether a person needed to be boostered to be considered as such. Two weeks ago, in his weekly Parent Connect, SLUH principal Ian Gibbons announced that, beginning March 21, a student would need to have a booster shot in order to be considered fully vaccinated. But as of a recent meeting, SLUH has decided to make changes only in the quarantine policy, and not the vaccine policy.

Four days ago, I had left with my youth group to travel 15 hours on a bus to Washington D.C. for the March for Life, and to my disappointment that journey was coming to an end. I was confused, very confused: why did I not want to leave this cramped, smelly bus, and return to my home? Because I was surrounded by a community built on joy, and awaiting me on Monday was a community lacking joy.
