Bone to play for Stevens Institute Volleyball

Senior Phillip Bone has recently committed to play volleyball at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey next year. After a dominant season leading the Jr. Bills’ nationally ranked volleyball team, Bone will head to Hoboken to compete for Stevens’ D3 program. Bone believes that Stevens will be a perfect destination to play the sport he loves while majoring in biomedical engineering.

Bone was attracted to Stevens not only because of their volleyball program but also because of their location. Living right next to New York City would give Bone a lot of opportunities in and after college.

“The coach reached out to me, I obviously haven’t heard of them before. I got introduced to the school and I found out it was a really good school and it's also located right next to NYC, which would be really cool to go to school next to a really big city, and I’m going into a great volleyball program and a great school,” said Bone.

That said, their volleyball program is certainly a plus. Under the coaching of Dan Beuhring, the Ducks had an impressive 30-4 record last year. They capped last season off with a strong postseason performance as well making it to the D3 semifinals.

“They’re in a really good spot, they’re up and coming. They have a youthful core so hopefully I can be a great addition to that and make an impact next season,” said Bone.

When asked why Bone wanted to continue playing volleyball in college, he had a simple answer: “Because it’s fun.”
