Fantasy Football: Week 13

Fantasy Playoffs are fast approaching, so here are our starts and sits for Week 13.

Mike White, QB,  Jets: Start. After Zach Wilson’s team-altering press conference where he took none of the blame for an embarrassing offensive showing, head coach Robert Salah has looked to Mike White to fill the void. White has proven himself as a legit fantasy candidate as the Jets’ starting QB. In his season debut, White threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the pouring rain. With a favorable matchup against a Minnesota defense that just gave up nearly 400 yards to Mac Jones, White should be in for another big week. We are picking up and starting Mike White in Week 13.

Deshaun Waston, QB, Browns: Sit. Watson is starting this week for the first time since January 3, 2021, after being suspended 11 games without pay because he was accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women. He faces his former team, the Houston Texans, this week, and usually, it would be smart to start a QB against Houston, but not in this case. Emotions will be high in NRG Stadium, with many of his accusers in the crowd, and we believe Watson will be rusty and underperform under the spotlight. We are benching Deshaun Watson in Week 13 against the Texans.

Tony Pollard, RB, Cowboys: Start. The former Memphis star has proven this year that he is the most talented back in Dallas and is beginning to take over Ezekiel Elliott’s role as the starter. Despite an underwhelming 8.1 points last week, we are still putting our faith in the speedster as they face a banged-up Colts front-seven, who have given up over 20 points to opposing running backs on average this season. We are deploying Tony Pollard in our lineups this week.

Kyren Williams, RB, Rams: Start. The St. Louisan rookie has begun to take over the Rams backfield. Williams' role has increased every week since his return from a Week 1 injury and should continue to grow. This, combined with a bitter divisional rival matchup against the Seattle Seahawks whose atrocious run defense gave up 300 yards from scrimmage to Josh Jacobs this past week, should be a favorable sign for Williams. We are starting Williams this week.

Christian Watson, WR, Packers: Start. It does not matter what quarterback is throwing Christian Watson the ball, because week in and week out he will find the end zone. In the last three weeks, Watson has scored more touchdowns than Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill have scored all season, and has had at least 20 points while not exceeding four catches in any of the three weeks. Although he can be seen as “touchdown dependent,” which may be true, it’s hard to bench him because the probability of a big play or a touchdown with his gamebreaking speed is inevitable. We are planning to start Watson this week.

DK Metcalf, WR, Seahawks: Sit. Metcalf has exceeded expectations for fantasy owners this season due to the resurgence of quarterback Geno Smith. He is averaging 13.3 points per game, yet we do not see his success continuing this week against the Rams. Metcalf plays on the outside and will be shadowed by one of the best cornerbacks in the league: Jalen Ramsey. We are worried we will see Metcalf disappear like he usually does and advise you to sit him in Week 13.

Jelani Woods, TE, Colts: Start. You may not have heard of the third round tight-end out of Virginia Tech yet, but trust me, you will. He is 6-foot-7 and can catch anything that comes his way. It took some time to get playing time this season for Woods, but he finally got his opportunity last week and took full advantage of it. He caught eight balls on nine targets and scored more points than Travis Kelce. Matt Ryan loves to utilize his safety blankets and Woods will fill in nicely in this role. We are starting Jelani Woods in Week 13.

Robert Tonyan, TE, Packers: Sit. The Packers have been in shambles this season, getting off to a 4-8 start. Aaron Rogders has not looked like the back-to-back MVP we saw the last two years and it's hurting Green Bay pass catchers. Furthermore, Rodgers will be playing with injured ribs this week against the Bears. Tonyan has been held under 35 yards in six straight games and hasn't found the end zone since Week 4. We are finding other options at the tight end position this week.
