St. Louis U. High welcomes Cole Frizzo to staff as the new Director of Theater Operations. He is working on renovations in the theater as well as building sets for productions.

Frizzo is from Illinois, and at a young age he fell in love with woodworking. He joined the theater technicians crew at his high school as a freshman and kept it up throughout school.

“I started doing it casually,” said Frizzo. “I found that I really liked working with my hands and that it is really fun to build stuff.”

Frizzo started working under previous Director of Theater Operations Tim Moore, who took another job after last school year. Frizzo applied for the job and got it. He started at the beginning of this school year and has already started remodeling parts of the theater.

“Right now we are building a new audio booth, along with building sets for plays, and there are new lighting components going in along with a new sound system, so there are lots of things that are going to be changing around here,” said Frizzo.

Frizzo has been working with the theater tech crew and together they have been working after school to build the new sound booth.

“I really like working with Cole,” said junior Noah Issac. “He is really laid back and it gives me something to do after school.

Frizzo provides guidance to those who want to get better at woodworking and those who want to learn how to build things for their future or just to give them something to do.

“I love building things,” said junior Andrew Strong. “Working with Cole allows me to do that and get a better idea of how to build things more efficiently and better.”

At 22 years old, Frizzo’s youth allows him to make better connections with the students and also means he can provide multiple opportunities to those who want to get more involved with the school and what it has to offer.

“It’s really fun,” said junior Murphy Daly. “I enjoy building stuff and I like it because it’s so laid back. I don’t really do much but I love helping out and working with Cole. He makes it a way better experience.”

The SLUH community welcomes Frizzo and is excited to see what changes he can provide for our school and our theater program as a whole.
