Swiecicki heads to Rockhurst Lacrosse team

Senior Cullen Swieciki will be taking his lacrosse talents to the next level at Rockhurst next year, where he will be going into the Pre-Med track, majoring in Biology.

Lacrosse has always been a passion of Swieciki’s, but it was a last minute decision to play in college.

“I didn’t think I was good enough to play college lacrosse, so I never thought about it,” he said. “But once a couple schools reached out to me about playing, I realized that I didn’t want my lacrosse career to end.”

Swieciki feels like Rockhurst is the perfect fit for him to continue his athletic career.

“I picked Rockhurst because I was looking for a smaller school with a community where there are lots of people to meet, but not too many people where it feels overwhelming,” he said.

The Hawks have been successful the past few years, as their only losses last season came against Top 20 teams. Swieciki looks forward to strengthening the already stellar team.

“I hope to add discipline and physicality to their already good defense,” Swieciki said.

Swieciki looks to take what he’s learned at SLUH with him to Rockhurst.

“I think the biggest thing I will take away from SLUH is the importance of organization,” he said. “I was very unorganized most of high school, but late junior year I started getting it together, and school became easier because I could plan better for sports and school.”

Swieciki will first look to be a pillar in the Jr. Bills’ path to State, as they are riding a five-game winning streak into a quarterfinal matchup with John Burroughs tomorrow night at 5 p.m.
