Congratulations to the team for winning for the third consecutive week. It was also SLUH's third consecutive sectional title. Moments after the race, Coach Linhares called it the "most impressive sectional victory" that he's ever seen. Placing six runners in the top twelve, the team was able to gain a convincing victory a week before State. Tipper O'Brien, the fifth #1 runner the team has had this season, led the way with his 4th place finish.

In the open race, Andrew Linhares won the "Battle of Kirkwood" over Murphy O'Brien in a dramatic finish. Controversy swirled around whether or not O'Brien sandbagged the last 100 meters, but either way the victory remains with Linhares. Brennan Connor, Geoff Stewart, and Matt Killiany placed 3-5, securing the SLUH sweep. The last time a JV runner from another school has cracked the top five was at Metro, when the 2nd JV team ran in the JV race, still taking places #1 and #2.
